21Flood Safety and Community Resilience information for parents,carers and teachers:1.Stay informed, by getting flood warnings from the Environment Agency.2.Protect your property and possessions with flood boards or sandbags andmove valuable things upstairs (including things like photos).3.Have a household emergency plan, think of neighbours and prepare a floodkit with food, water, torch, wind up radio, first aid kit, blanket, insurance details and important telephone numbers. 4.In addition to a grab bag, try to keep 3 days supply of bottled water andnon perishable food in your home for emergencies.5.Flood water can be dirty and contaminated with sewage, so don%u2019t touch it.Throw away food that has been in contact with flood water and make sure you use appropriate personal hygiene i.e. hand washing, alcohol gels etc.6.Don%u2019t walk in flood water, manhole covers could be off and a small amountof fast flowing water can knock people over, and even move cars.
